Susan Lee is a prominent figure in the global bonsai community, serving as a Director for Bonsai Clubs International (BCI) and representing the Bonsai Society of the Philippines (BSAPI). Her leadership and dedication were exemplified in 2023 when she successfully organized a BCI regional bonsai and suiseki convention in Vigan, Philippines, showcasing her ability to bring together enthusiasts and experts from across the region.
Recently, Susan traveled to Liuzhou, China, to attend the BCI International Convention, where she proudly announced, “The Philippines is the biggest delegation with 38 members joining the BCI Convention in Liuzhou.” This milestone reflects her commitment to fostering international connections within the bonsai and suiseki communities.
In addition to her international endeavors, Susan generously shares her passion for bonsai with others. Bonsai Winnipeg has the privilege of inviting her to present her garden over Zoom, allowing members to experience her artistry and vision. “I am greatly honored to share my garden,” she remarked, while noting ongoing projects to expand her space, including the acquisition of a neighboring lot. Plans are underway for a stone museum and a dedicated room for pots, with construction set to begin in early 2025.
Beyond her bonsai achievements, Susan’s leadership extends to other horticultural pursuits. She was recently elected as the President of the Philippine Orchid Society for the 2025–2027 term and concludes her tenure as President of the Bonsai and Suiseki Alliances of the Philippines, continuing to serve as Vice President for External Affairs. Despite her many responsibilities, Susan remains a dynamic and inspiring presence in the world of bonsai and horticulture.
